The chair manufacturer Wehlers exhibits R.U.M chairs (Re-Used Material) made from recycled plastic at Design London 2021 and in collaboration with C.F. Møller Design. This is a piece of furniture whose entire life cycle has been considered. From timeless design, great and long-lasting quality, to the possibility of resale, and consisting of plastic that can be used for new products after use. It consists typically of fishing nets, boxes and other things that are either collected in the oceans or handed in from the fishing industry. And even if the plastic from here has to be collected, cleaned, granulated and recast, it is still a far more climate-friendly process than if the plastic had to be produced from scratch - as "virgin plastic". The new R.U.M. chair is created. At Design London 2021, Wehlers also presents a new version of the R.U.M chair, which is created from so-called E-plastic - i.e. plastic and E-waste from the electronics industry. The plastic is sorted by colour, so you can choose your colour by choosing waste stream. R.U.M. is part of Wehler's ECO system, which means that we make sure that all our furniture is reused and recycled. E-waste is currently the EU's fastest growing waste stream from printers, telephones, computers, etc.
